These terms cover the full design process from concept to completion and are integral to the agreements governing our service bundles. As a client, your contract with GetNeat ID establishes a working relationship in which we are engaged to transform an interior space with new or enhanced design elements. 1. Detailed Specifications GetNeat ID will create detailed specifications for all aspects of the project, including style plans and 3D drawings as applicable. These specifications encompass interior colour schemes, fabric selections, lighting, furniture, and other design and construction elements as required. These details will be agreed upon during the initial consultation and will serve as the foundation for the project. 2. Scope of Work The scope of work outlines the specific tasks to be completed and provides an estimated timeline for the project. GetNeat ID uses a fixed fee pricing model, ensuring that the scope of work is comprehensive and clearly defines the deliverables. This document establishes a mutual understanding of roles and responsibilities. It is important to note that GetNeat ID's services do not include work by contractors such as architects, electrician, or engineers. While these specialized services may be coordinated by GetNeat ID, they are managed separately and require direct engagement with the respective professionals. 3. - Incorporate An Accent Colour and Establish a Cohesive Colour Scheme.
How to Choose the Perfect Accent Colour for a Cohesive Colour Scheme Let's talk about making your space look awesome with an accent colour! When you're jazzing up your place, picking the right colour is key. Most people start with their favourite colour and search around that tone for shades and tones. Think about your accent wall—whether you've already picked a standout colour or you're still figuring out the perfect base, it's all about choosing other colours that just click with your main pick. No need for fancy terminology here; K.I.S.S comes to mind that means "keep it simple silly" keeping the secrets of mixing colours super simple. I'll share some tips on how to make your feature wall and the whole colour palette vibe together. From the main act to the supporting roles, let's make your living space feel cosy, stylish, and a reflection, totally of you! Tip #1 - WALLPAPER When it comes to choosing colours, wallpaper can be a fantastic way to tie a room's colour scheme together. Sometimes, we're captivated by a stunning wallpaper but end up confining it to a feature wall, neglecting the potential impact on the entire space and losing a cohesive and balanced ambiance. But with todays technology, we can take an sample of wall paper to the mixing stations, and have a certain colour pulled out and mixed. So matching the paint to the paper, and then painting the remaining walls. Break it up and half panel the lower wall, paper above and the matched colour on the panelling below. This smart colour strategy isn't exclusive to wallpapers though; it can be extended to any pattern in your room. What's' on the curtains, scatter cushions or rugs? all potential sources of inspiration. It really is nothing new, just go with your gut and forget what others think, your living in it! “No pattern should be without some sort of meaning.” – William Morris Tip #2 - ACCENT WALLS In a lounge, for example, the sofa is often the largest piece of furniture, making it a key element in your colour palette. Chances are, you picked your sofa not only for its style but also for its colour. It just makes sense to let that choice set the tone and define your entire colour scheme. After all, your space should reflect not only your style but also the things you already enjoy and appreciate. Some will choose a piece of art, some will choose an object from travels and some even just take inspiration from everyday life, one of my past clients wanted the colour of the Biscoff biscuits. If your new home already has a feature wall colour, or your on a tight budget then why not work with it? Utilize it to guide a tonal colour palette for the other walls and details. Consider extending the cohesion by painting a picture frame, woodwork and skirtings, doorframes and windows or an item of furniture, in the same or tonal colour to bring everything together seamlessly. Tip #3 - What Inspired Me... A simple, effective and cost saving approach is to take inspiration from what's already around you and what you already love. Look at the items you have and cherish, and let them guide your colour choices. I have an old arm chair that was my Nana's, I got it sent to me when my parents were clearing out their home. I dyed it a teal, sprayed the legs brass, and used it many many mornings for a coffee. I just can't let it go, I don't have many memories of my Nana but I get a deep sense we would have had a giggle, and its that feeling that makes me keep the chair. So with the sentiment of the chair, and its new colour, that set the colour palette for the rest of the room. I pulled out rich tones towards then green end of teal and blocking it against lighter blues and whites for a crisp modern vibe. Now, Pull Your Finger Out, and Get Some Samples... Yes you need to go to the paint store, your going want to try out a few colours in your own space. Well you might not want to, but you should. Every home has different lighting, from natural light to accent light to area lights, and usually a combination of the three. To make it even more fun, all these lights are changing on an hourly basis, at different times of the day. I would select the main paint colour I was drawn to, then go a few tones lighter and a few tones darker, so you end up with three tones of the similar colour. Paint each colour onto 4, a4 pages, (one for each wall) so you then end up with 12 sheets of the three colours. Line all three next to each other and try them at different levels on each wall, start at eye level, then maybe top left corner, the shade will make it look different. Leave the squares up for a few days and forget about them, then see which one draws your eye each time you enter the room. See how they work in the evening or the times your using the space most and whittle them down until you have found the right match that feels right for you. Alright, let's wrap this chat about sprucing up your space up! These are just a handful of ideas, and here's the truth – there really is no rulebook. It's all about letting your creativity flow, embracing ideas, and trusting your gut feelings more than overthinking it. Your thoughts can guide your feelings, so keep an eye out for that gut feeling – it's usually onto something good, in my experience. Some designers have their go-to style, and yeah, sticking to it can be a safe bet. But, here's the cool part: there are designers out there who want to draw inspiration from you – your lifestyle, your tastes, and your favourite colours. That means creating a space that's all about you! That's my vibe – people inspire me. If you're not feeling up to tackling this solo, shoot me a message. We can spend a day, and working together we'll pull together a colour scheme that feels just right for you. Let's make your space uniquely yours.
- Ready To Sell? Getting Ready to Sell by Tackling What You Don't Want To.
When your searching for that perfect dream home, it's often an emotional connection we seek upon entering a room, rather than solely relying on practical considerations. This connection is woven into the aesthetics and materiality of the space. Meaning that its crucial for homeowners to present their abode in the best possible light when it comes time to sell. This is on both sides, whether buying or selling. Don't just leave it, make it move in ready for the next people, after all, that's what your expecting from the home you are looking at buying, right? It's not surprising that a significant portion of the population tends to shy away from do-it-yourself (DIY) tasks, due to a combination of impatience, lack of experience, and sad to say, even a little "snobbery", all only leading to a general aversion to tackle such jobs, meaning then they never get done. Only a small number of my clients, feel empowered to "do it themselves". I believe that in today's world, if you are able to set up your new smart phone with your new sim, email accounts, WhatsApp or numerous social media apps, you should easily be able to read the side of a paint can to learn how to apply the finishes or install the items? Most of the tasks in the home are super easy, all you need to do is follow the instructions that come with the items. Embarking on DIY tasks at home can be a bit of a mixed bag—sometimes rewarding, sometimes downright challenging, and the best projects have a combination of the two, a challenge to work it out, and the satisfaction of completing it and using it in your daily life. I've pulled together my top 10 tasks that many people find a bit daunting, and a few of the common tasks involved. Install units (wardrobes and kitchen units) Assembling flat-pack furniture Mounting cabinets securely Aligning and levelling kitchen units Repair or install a new radiator Bleeding a radiator Fixing a leak Installing a thermostat Put down new flooring Installing laminate flooring Laying down ceramic tiles Fitting hardwood flooring Upcycle/repair new items Restoring furniture Refurbishing vintage items Repairing damaged woodwork Install new appliances (dishwasher and washing machine) Connecting water supply lines Ensuring proper electrical connections Levelling and securing the appliance Fix a tap Replacing a faucet washer Fixing a leaking tap Repairing a dripping faucet Tiling a floor or wall Preparing the surface for tiling Applying adhesive and setting tiles Grouting and finishing the tiled area Installing a new bathroom Fitting a new bathtub or shower Installing bathroom fixtures Connecting plumbing and drainage Hanging pictures and shelves Locating wall studs Properly mounting brackets Ensuring level placement Painting Preparing surfaces for painting Choosing the right paint and tools Applying even coats and avoiding streaks It turns out, a lot of us aren't too keen on the task of putting together and installing units like wardrobes and kitchen cabinets. And let's not forget the challenge of laying down new flooring, tiling or a new shower, which also ranks high on my list of DIY tasks that make us pause. Out of this list to me the best way to create an inviting space, especially when selling, is though paint and colour. So, let's steer away from the mundane, plain and boring and explore warm and inviting hues, that will provoke the right feelings to the new potential owners. Whether it's a soothing neutral or a touch of vibrancy, the goal is to create an ambiance that not only reflects your style but also invites potential buyers to see the unique potential of their future dream home. After all we all want what others have and a stylishly painted home is not just a house; it's an invitation to a journey of comfort, warmth, and lasting memory making. Tip #1 - Don't be dull, use CONTRAST. Many individuals instinctively reach for the paintbrush, opting to cover everything in a crisp, white palette under the assumption that it will universally appeal to potential buyers. However, the reality is that infusing warmth through colour can play a pivotal role in helping prospective homeowners envision their own dream haven. Create ambiance and focal interest with carefully selected contrasting colours, it'll add depth to any clinical space. Tip #2 - Keep the hues, go TONAL. When you're gearing up to sell your home by spruce things up, diving into the charm of your home's era is a fantastic starting point. Picture this: if your home is rocking that 1900s Victorian vibe, why not go for colours straight from the classic Victorian playbook? You can borrow inspiration from vintage wallpaper or those timeless artisan patterns. It's like giving your place a splash of history in every coat of paint. And guess what? The paint colour doesn't stop inside. Take one of those cool interior tones and paint it on the window woodwork and the front door. You can keep it in sync, but id prefer to mix it up a little by going a bit lighter or darker for that perfect tonal dance. It's not just about making your home look good; it's about making it feel like home—warm, welcoming, and totally meant to be, let those Victorian vibes flow! "Colour is a power which directly influences the soul."– Wassily Kandinsky Tip #3 -The right finish. In general, most people tend to keep the walls a matte finish, and wood work a satin or sometimes gloss on wood work and doors. But just because the walls are emulsion and the woodwork is satin, doesn't mean you can't have both finishes in the same colour, adding a more contemporary vibe to any space by bringing the colour down and over all the wood work details. Just get the same colour mixed in both finishes. If you're considering using emulsion on your woodwork, It can be done, it's essential to apply a primer first. This ensures that the emulsion adheres effectively to the wood surface. Personally, I've found and use the GoodHome paints at B&Q, my newfound favourite. They've really streamlined the selection process for finishes. The combination of a tough and durable finish, along with the convenience of using primer where needed, not only shorten the application process but also simplifies the overall selection, equating to less stress. It's a practical choice that enhances both the durability and efficiency of your painting project. So I conclude that, buying that perfect home is more about feelings than just practicalities. It's the vibe you get when you walk into a room—the emotions woven into the look and feel of the space. So, when it's time to sell, presenting your home in the best light is crucial. This goes, and applies for both buyers and sellers. Don't just leave your home as is—make it ready for the next folks. After all, that's what you'd want when you're house-hunting, right? DIY projects might seem a bit overwhelming, but trust me, it's a mix of challenges and rewards. From putting together furniture to tackling a new bathroom, a bit of patience goes a long way. And when it comes to creating an inviting space, especially for selling, paint and colour can work wonders. Forget the bland and explore warm, inviting hues that set the right mood, play with contrast for depth, go for tonal that match your home's vibe, and pick the right finish for durability. GoodHome paints at B&Q are a handy choice—less stress, more practicality for DIY'ers and Professionals. Remember, making your home look good is not just about making it feel like home—cosy, inviting, and just right, its about selling; So, grab that paintbrush, let the colours flow, and make your home a canvas of character.

Your bathroom should be a sanctuary—a place where you can unwind, rejuvenate, and indulge in self-care. In this chapter, we will explore design ideas, materials, and elements that will elevate your bathroom experience and transform it into a personal haven. When designing a relaxing bathroom, colour plays a crucial role in setting the tone and creating a tranquil atmosphere. Remember to choose colours that resonate with your personal preferences and create a serene atmosphere that reflects your style. Play it safe with theses colour schemes: Natural Hues: Embrace the beauty of nature by incorporating earthy tones like sandy browns, soothing greens, or soft blues. These colours evoke a sense of serenity and bring the outdoors into your bathroom. Subtle Pastels: Consider using subtle pastel shades like pale pinks, lavender, or light aqua. These delicate hues add a touch of femininity and create a soothing and dreamy ambiance. Soft Neutrals: opt for soft, neutral tones such as whites, beiges, and light greys. These colours create a sense of calmness and purity while providing a timeless and elegant look. To create and design the perfect bathroom, a truly indulgent bathroom retreat of form and function, carefully select high-quality materials and finishes that exude luxury and sophistication. Consider the following options: Natural Stone: Incorporate natural stone elements such as marble, granite, or travertine for countertops, flooring, or shower walls. Install dimmable recessed or pendant lights to create a soft and warm ambiance. A wall mirror with adjustable lighting is a must in my opinion. Adjustable lighting levels allow you to customize the mood and adapt to different activities, such as taking a relaxing bath or getting ready for the day. Place task lighting around the vanity area to provide optimal illumination for grooming tasks. Install sconces or vertical lights on either side of the mirror to minimize shadows and provide even lighting. Maximize natural light by using sheer window treatments that allow diffused light to enter the space. If privacy is a concern, consider frosted or textured glass for windows or skylights. Highlight architectural features or focal points in your bathroom with accent lighting. Use strategically placed spotlights or LED strips to draw attention to artwork, decorative niches, or unique architectural elements. Tranquil Spa-Inspired Features To create a tranquil bathroom retreat, consider incorporating spa-inspired features that promote relaxation and well-being. Here are some ideas to consider: Freestanding Bathtub: Invest in a luxurious freestanding bathtub as the centrepiece of your bathroom. opt for designs that offer deep soaking capabilities, ergonomic shapes, and comfortable backrests. This will allow you to indulge in soothing baths and experience the ultimate relaxation. Rainfall Shower: Install a spacious rainfall showerhead to simulate the sensation of standing under a gentle rain shower. This luxurious feature provides a refreshing and immersive bathing experience. Heated Flooring: Treat yourself to the comfort of heated flooring in your bathroom. This feature not only adds a touch of luxury but also provides warmth underfoot, especially during colder seasons. Steam Shower: Consider adding a steam shower enclosure to your bathroom for the ultimate spa-like experience. The steam function helps to relax muscles, improve circulation, and cleanse the skin. Incorporate seating, adjustable lighting, and aromatherapy options for a truly indulgent experience. Aromatherapy: Introduce soothing scents into your bathroom through aromatherapy. Use essential oils, scented candles, or diffusers to create a serene and calming atmosphere. Lavender, eucalyptus, and jasmine are popular choices known for their relaxation properties. Organisation and Storage An organized and clutter-free bathroom enhances the overall tranquillity of the space. Consider the following storage solutions: Vanity Organization: opt for vanity cabinets with ample storage space and built-in organizers. Incorporate drawers, dividers, and pull-out shelves to keep toiletries, beauty products, and towels neatly organized. Wall-mounted Storage: Install floating shelves or wall-mounted cabinets to maximize vertical space. These provide storage for towels, toiletries, or decorative items while keeping the floor area free and uncluttered. Towel Warmers: Invest in a towel warmer or heated towel rack to keep your towels warm, dry, and ready for use. This adds a touch of luxury and ensures a cosy experience after bathing or showering. Hidden Storage: Consider hidden storage solutions such as recessed cabinets or mirrored cabinets. These discreet options allow you to store essentials while maintaining a clean and seamless aesthetic. Minimalist Approach: Embrace a minimalist mindset when it comes to bathroom accessories and decor. Keep only essential items visible and store other items out of sight. This minimalist approach creates a serene and clutter-free environment. Greenery and Natural Elements Bringing elements of nature into your bathroom can enhance its tranquillity and provide a connection to the outdoors. Consider the following ideas: Indoor Plants: Introduce indoor plants that thrive in bathroom environments, such as ferns, orchids, or peace lilies. These plants not only add a touch of greenery but also improve air quality and create a calming atmosphere.
